A training video is an internal format intended to train employees, explain a procedure, or explain how to operate equipment. The benefit is simple: what an experienced colleague explains to every newcomer over and over gets filmed once and used repeatedly. It's best to cover procedures that recur often, are hard to describe in words, or where mistakes tend to occur. Videos should be short and split by individual steps, so they can be watched at the moment of need rather than as an hour-long lecture. Maintenance needs to be factored in – after a procedure or system changes, a video becomes misleading, so it's worth keeping a list of them with their creation date. The same materials can also be used to train customers.
