EU4Health

EU4Health is a European Union programme focused on improving the health of the population, strengthening the readiness of health systems for crises and modernising the delivery of care. It funds mainly prevention and early diagnosis, the fight against cancer, medicine availability, mental health, the digitalisation of healthcare and cooperation between member states in procurement and data exchange. Eligible applicants are hospitals, universities, research institutions, patient organisations and public authorities, usually in international consortia. The programme complements national resources and does not replace funding for the routine operation of healthcare facilities. Calls are published centrally and submitted in English, with strong emphasis placed on the transferability of results to other countries, not just the benefit to a single institution. Slovak institutions are therefore better off first joining as a partner in a consortium led by a more experienced institution and only later considering their own coordinator role.
