The Digital Decade is a framework setting out the European Union's digitalisation targets through to 2030. It covers four areas: the digital skills of the population and the number of professionals in the field, digital infrastructure including connectivity and computing capacity, the digital transformation of businesses with an emphasis on the use of cloud, data analytics and artificial intelligence, and the digitalisation of public services. Member states regularly report on progress and adopt national plans to achieve the targets. For businesses, this framework is useful as an indicator of where support is heading – the areas in which a country lags behind translate into calls and national projects in subsequent years. The assessment reports are public and make it possible to estimate where funding will shift. In particular, it is worth monitoring the indicator of business digitalisation, where Slovakia has long lagged behind.
