Grants for Electric Vehicles

Grants for electric vehicles support the purchase of battery and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and in some cases commercial vehicles and buses, and tend to be linked with support for charging infrastructure. Conditions vary between rounds: a maximum vehicle purchase price, a fixed contribution amount, a limited number of vehicles per applicant and an obligation to keep the vehicle as an asset for a set period are all set. For companies, support is generally provided under the de minimis regime, which means it counts towards the limit and the aid already drawn must be tracked. Besides the direct support, it is worth factoring in tax aspects and operating costs, because the economics of an electric vehicle within a company depend mainly on annual mileage and on the possibility of charging on the company's own premises.
