Sanctions and export restrictions

Sanctions and export restrictions are rules that prohibit or place conditions on the supply of certain goods, technology or services to particular countries, or to specific persons and companies on sanctions lists. A special category is dual-use goods, that is, ordinary products and technologies with possible military application – this also includes certain software and encryption solutions, precision measuring instruments or components, which surprises companies. The export of such goods is subject to authorisation. Responsibility for the check lies with the exporter, and ignorance does not exempt them from the consequences, which can also be criminal. A practical measure is to verify the classification of your own goods before entering a new market, check the buyer against sanctions lists, and find out who its end user will be.
