The Digital Europe Programme is a European Union programme focused on introducing digital technologies into the economy and public administration. It differs from research programmes in its emphasis on deployment – it does not fund the discovery of new technologies but their real-world rollout. Its pillars are artificial intelligence, supercomputing capacity, cybersecurity, advanced digital skills, and the deployment of technology in society, and it is precisely this programme that co-finances the network of digital innovation hubs. Applications are generally submitted directly at European level, often in consortia of several countries, which is more demanding for smaller companies than national calls. For an average Slovak company, a more practical route is therefore to use the services provided by entities funded from the programme rather than to apply for funding directly.
