Occupational health and safety (OHS)

OHS is occupational health and safety, that is, the set of employer obligations aimed at preventing accidents and occupational diseases. This includes assessing risks at individual workplaces and adopting measures, initial and recurring employee training, provision of personal protective equipment, arranging occupational health services, and recording and reporting workplace accidents. The obligations apply to every employer regardless of size and also cover remote work, which is handled differently than at the workplace. Smaller companies usually secure this agenda through an external safety technician. The documentation is checked during labour inspection audits, and keeping it correctly also matters when assessing liability for any accident.
