REPowerEU chapter

The REPowerEU chapter is an addition to the Recovery and Resilience Plan comprising measures aimed at reducing dependence on imported fossil fuels, accelerating the development of renewable sources, and increasing energy efficiency. It arose as a response to the energy crisis and brought member states additional funds, which had to be incorporated into the existing plan through a revision. It mainly finances investments in renewable sources, grid modernisation, energy savings in buildings, battery storage, and the development of skills for the energy sector. For companies and local authorities this means further calls beyond the scope of the original plan, which, however, are governed by the same rules, that is, milestones, targets and fixed deadlines. The allocation is limited and tied to specific measures; it cannot be moved between themes.
