Digital Maturity of a Company

Digital maturity of a company is an assessment of the extent to which a business uses digital tools in its processes, data handling, customer communication, cyber security and employee skills. In several European and national schemes, measuring it is a direct condition of support: the company fills in a questionnaire before the project starts and again after it ends, so that the shift can be demonstrated. The assessment is usually carried out by an expert from a digital innovation hub, and its output also includes a recommended plan of further steps. For a company, this step is worthwhile even outside the grant context – it shows whether the company is actually ready to deploy AI, or whether it first needs to sort out basic record-keeping, backups and access to systems.
