Climate Change Adaptation covers measures that reduce the impacts of drought, heat waves and flash floods. These include retaining water in the landscape and in built-up areas, restoring wetlands, flood protection, planting greenery, green roofs and walls, shading public spaces, permeable surfaces and rainwater management. The importance of these measures is growing, and they are becoming a point-scoring or directly mandatory part of construction and revitalisation projects. Applicants are typically municipalities, towns, watercourse administrators, forestry and agricultural entities, and for some measures also businesses adapting their own premises. When preparing a project, it is worth combining several measures at once, since planting alone without addressing water brings a markedly lower effect.
