Subscriptions in an e-shop

Subscriptions in an e-shop mean repeated deliveries of goods or access to a service with a recurring payment. They are used for consumables, food, cosmetics, pet food and digital services alike. The main advantage is predictable revenue and higher customer value; the disadvantage is technical and operational complexity – the system must handle recurring payment charges, changing the interval, pausing, changing the address and failed payments. Legally, the key points are clear information about the price per period, the length of commitment and the method of cancellation, which must be just as easy as signing up. Automatic renewal without notice is legally questionable for consumers. It is worth tracking the cancellation rate and the reasons, because they are what determine whether the model is sustainable in the long term.
