A video podcast is a podcast recorded with video as well, which allows distribution on video platforms and social networks alongside classic podcast apps. The main advantage is that a single recording produces multiple outputs: the long episode, an audio version, a transcript turned into an article, and a series of short clips that bring in new listeners. Technically it is not a large investment – two microphones, stable lighting and simple cameras are enough, with audio quality remaining the key factor. What is more demanding is consistency and topic preparation, which is where most company podcasts fail after a few episodes. Before launching, it is therefore worth having at least five episodes prepared and clearly determining who prepares, hosts and processes the episodes after recording. It is also worth agreeing a fixed recording date each month, since without it production falls apart before the audience grows.
