Grants for business photovoltaics support the installation of solar energy sources in businesses, most often under schemes focused on energy savings and emission reduction. They differ from support for households in the state aid rules, higher co-financing, and the emphasis on demonstrating benefit. What tends to be eligible is panels, inverters, mounting structures, installation, project documentation and, increasingly, battery storage, if it increases self-consumption. Crucially, the support is directed at covering the business's own consumption, not production for sale – the project is therefore assessed against the company's consumption profile, which must be documented. A key document tends to be an energy audit or an assessment demonstrating the saving. Do not start the installation before submitting the application, otherwise the expenditure becomes ineligible.
