Cycling transport

Cycling transport is an area of support focused on building cycling infrastructure intended primarily for everyday commuting to work and school, not for recreation. It finances the construction of cycle paths and cycle lanes, connections to public transport stops, safe bicycle parking, and related safety measures. When projects are assessed, what is monitored is therefore how many people will use the route to travel to work, whether it connects residential areas with workplaces and schools, and whether it links up with the existing network – an isolated section with no connection has low value. Applicants are municipalities, towns, self-governing regions and their associations. For companies, the topic is relevant in connection with the accessibility of the workplace and with supporting sustainable commuting by employees.
