Withdrawal from a contract within fourteen days is the consumer's right to return goods bought at a distance without giving a reason. The period runs from taking delivery of the goods, and the seller must inform the consumer of this right in advance, including a model withdrawal form – if it fails to do so, the period is substantially extended. After withdrawal, the seller refunds the full amount paid, including the cheapest delivery method offered, usually within fourteen days, and may wait for the return of the goods or for proof that they have been sent back. The cost of returning the goods is borne by the customer if they were informed of this. The law provides for exceptions, for example custom-made goods, perishable goods, unsealed hygiene products, or digital content whose delivery began with the customer's express consent.
