AI in Energy and Savings is used by companies for two things: forecasting and control. Consumption prediction based on historical data, the operating schedule and weather allows for better energy purchasing and helps avoid costly consumption peaks, which are reflected in payments for reserved capacity. Companies with their own energy source add prediction of photovoltaic generation and control of the battery storage system so that as much energy as possible is consumed directly instead of being sold back to the grid. Anomaly detection in consumption is also used, which flags a fault or a device left running, along with automated control of heating and cooling according to occupancy. The basic condition is measurement at sufficient resolution – without sub-metering, there is nothing to optimise.
