Source Diversity in AI Answers

Source diversity in an answer expresses how many, and what kind of, websites the model drew on to assemble its response. Tracking this composition is more valuable for GEO strategy planning than the mention itself, because it shows where success is actually achievable. If, for a given topic, the model repeatedly cites large portals, encyclopaedias or government websites, direct competition with your own content will be difficult, and the faster route is to get into those sources through digital PR. If, on the other hand, it cites specialist blogs and smaller websites, an opportunity exists and the quality of the passages decides. So, with every measurement, record the list of cited domains as well and track how it evolves – a change in the composition of sources tends to be the first signal that a topic has opened up, or conversely closed off.
