Grants for schools support investments in premises and equipment as well as soft projects aimed at the quality of education. The first group includes reconstruction and insulation of buildings, specialised and language classrooms, digital equipment, gyms, school canteens and accessibility. The second includes educational programmes, support for pupils with special needs, inclusion, tutoring, clubs and international exchange projects. A fundamental question is who the eligible applicant is – for investment projects this is usually the founder, that is, the municipality or the region, while for soft projects the school itself can apply. This also determines who secures the co-financing and who bears the obligations during the sustainability period. Clarify this at the outset, otherwise preparation will stall on a formal condition.
