Renewable energy sources in the Recovery and Resilience Plan are supported not only as generation equipment, but together with the infrastructure that enables their connection. Funding covers the installation of photovoltaic and other sources at businesses, municipalities, and households, the modernisation of the distribution network, battery and other energy storage, and measures to speed up permitting procedures, which are the biggest obstacle in practice. A significant part is also support for energy communities, in which municipalities, companies, and households jointly generate and share electricity. For a business considering its own electricity generation, self-consumption is decisive – the economics of the solution rest on how much of the generated energy the company itself uses, not on the subsidy. The connection capacity in a given area tends to be the limit that needs to be verified first.
