AI for Document Translation now handles ordinary business texts at very good quality and also preserves file formatting. It is suitable for internal communication, technical documentation, foreign calls for proposals, emails and first drafts of marketing texts. There are three limits. The first is industry- or company-specific terminology, which needs to be supplied in advance as a glossary, otherwise the translation varies from one document to the next. The second is texts intended for publication, where review by a native speaker is recommended, since the translation tends to be grammatically correct but not sound natural. The third is official translations, which must be produced by a translator listed in the register, and machine translation cannot replace them regardless of quality. For recurring work, it is therefore worth maintaining a company glossary of terms and using it consistently for every translation.
