Grants for Water and Sewerage

Grants for water and sewerage support the construction and modernisation of water utility infrastructure and measures for retaining water in the landscape. The first group includes water mains, sewerage networks and wastewater treatment plants; the second includes water retention measures in municipalities and the landscape, rainwater harvesting, wetland restoration and flood protection. Applicants are predominantly municipalities, water utility companies and watercourse administrators, while for measures on green areas schools and organisations also apply. These are capital-intensive projects strongly dependent on preparation: without final permits, settled land ownership and project documentation, an application cannot be submitted. Preparing the documentation tends to be the bottleneck, which is why municipalities that have it ready in advance are able to respond even to calls with a short deadline.
