Grants for Tourism

Grants for tourism support the development of tourist infrastructure, attractions and services in the regions. A specific feature of this area is that a significant share of the support does not go directly to individual operators, but to regional and district tourism organisations, which use it for destination promotion, signage, product packages and joint events. For accommodation and catering facilities, this means that membership in such an organisation tends to be the practical route to benefits they would not obtain on their own. Direct support for operators is directed most often towards modernisation, energy savings, accessibility and the digitalisation of services. Cross-border programmes and schemes focused on using cultural and natural heritage are also common. For projects in this area, sustainability beyond the season is assessed strictly.
