Foundation grant programmes are support provided by foundations, endowment funds and corporate foundations outside the system of public grants. The amounts tend to be smaller, but the administration is considerably simpler and the decision-making faster, which makes them a practical source for smaller non-profit organisations, schools, municipalities and community projects. The focus differs from foundation to foundation – typically education, the social sphere, culture, sport, the environment or regional development. The evaluation tends to be less formal, and greater emphasis is placed on the clarity of the intent, the impact on the community, and the credibility of the applicant. Even here, however, the obligation to account for the funds and to keep to the stated purpose applies. Keep track of each foundation's schedule of calls; it tends to be regular and repeats every year. For recurring programmes, it is worth applying again even after an unsuccessful attempt, since foundations often provide feedback that will considerably improve the application in the next round.
