Event as a project

An event as a project is a one-off or regularly recurring event – a festival, conference, exhibition, competition, or professional forum – financed from a grant or subsidy. The budget consists of fees for performers and lecturers, rental of venues and equipment, promotion, accommodation, and organisational arrangements. Evaluation assesses the expected attendance, the professional level of the programme, the reach to the target group, and co-financing from other sources including admission fees and sponsors. A weakness of applications tends to be a budget built on uncertain income and the absence of a plan for the case of bad weather or low attendance. Providers increasingly also monitor the environmental side of the event and its benefit beyond the day it takes place, for example in the form of recordings and materials. Recurring events additionally have the advantage of documented figures from previous editions, which make the attendance estimate credible.
