Pricing for foreign markets

Pricing for foreign markets requires more than a currency conversion. You need to take into account purchasing power, which differs between markets even within Europe, local competitors' prices, which determine what the customer considers normal, different transport and support costs, and the tax burden. Conventions for showing prices also differ – tax-inclusive in some places, tax-exclusive elsewhere, which causes confusion when comparing. Show prices in the local currency, not converted, and in forms that are customary in that market. Bear in mind that price differences between markets are visible in an era of online comparison, so a significant deviation is hard to explain. For services, there is more room to manoeuvre than for goods with a clear identifier.
