Public procurement in EU projects

Public procurement in projects financed from EU funds is the process of selecting suppliers of goods, services and construction works under Act No 343/2015 Coll. on public procurement and the provider's rules. The obligation to select a supplier transparently applies not only to the public sector but also to private companies drawing subsidies – they proceed at least by way of a market survey under the public procurement process guide. Every procurement is subject to review by the provider, carried out either before or after the contract is signed with the supplier. Breaches of the rules, such as discriminatory conditions, splitting of a contract, or conflict of interest, lead to financial corrections of between 5 and 100% of the contract value. Well-handled public procurement is therefore one of the most important factors in successfully drawing down the contribution.
