Education reform in the Recovery and Resilience Plan is among the largest components and combines changes to the content of education with investments in schools. It mainly involves adjusting curricula towards skills instead of rote learning, supporting inclusive education including specialist support teams in schools, developing the digital skills of both pupils and teachers, and equipping specialist classrooms. A separate part is support for teacher training and a change in how they are prepared. For schools and their founding bodies, it is essential that individual investments are linked to reforms – funding is released once legislative and systemic steps that the school cannot influence have been fulfilled. The practical consequence is shifts in call deadlines, which need to be taken into account when planning projects.
