Author authority and website authority

Author authority and website authority are two distinct trust signals that complement each other. Website authority arises from a domain's history, links and overall content quality, and is built up over years. Author authority is tied to a specific person and their footprint across sources – publications, talks, professional profiles, mentions in the media. For smaller companies, the second route is often faster and cheaper, because an expert builds a reputation even outside the company website, and that reputation carries over to the content. In practice this means naming the actual author of expert content with their own page, linking it to their external profiles, and letting them appear elsewhere too, not only on the company's own website. Anonymous expert content loses this signal entirely.
