Kindergarten capacity is expanded through investments aimed at creating new places for children of pre-school age, including children under three. The reason is partly compulsory pre-primary education, and partly a shortage of places, which prevents parents from returning to work. Funding covers construction, extension, renovation of unused premises, as well as equipment and exterior works. Applicants are municipalities and towns as founders, and in some calls also private and church founders. The assessment looks at the demographic need in the given area, the number of places created, and the readiness of the project, including ownership relationships and permits. For companies, the topic is indirectly interesting – the availability of pre-school facilities in a region directly affects the labour supply.
