AI in Healthcare Practice has two distinct areas in the business practice of outpatient clinics and facilities. The first is administration – transcribing and summarising examinations into documentation, preparing reports, scheduling patients, answering frequent questions and processing referrals. Here the benefit is immediate and the risk low. The second area is tools supporting diagnostics and treatment decisions, which are classified as high-risk applications and are subject to strict requirements including certification as a medical device. In all cases, this involves a special category of personal data, so it must not be entered into public tools without security measures and without a legal basis. A safe starting point is administration within an environment under the facility's control. When choosing a supplier, it is worth requesting proof of where the data is processed and how long it is retained.
