On-camera presence

On-camera presence feels unnatural to most people, and it is often stage fright that stops companies from filming videos, even though the videos would help them. Several practical things prove effective. Instead of memorising a script word for word, prepare three to five points and speak in your own words, since a memorised text sounds wooden. Film in short segments that can be repeated at any time, instead of trying for one flawless take. Speak into the lens, not at the screen, so eye contact is created. And start with an interview format, answering a colleague's questions – this is markedly easier for most people than a monologue. First videos are rarely perfect, but viewers value authenticity more than a polished delivery.
