The Business Register of the Slovak Republic is a public list of business entities, in which the company's basic details are recorded – business name, registered office, scope of activity, executives, partners, registered capital, and the manner of acting on behalf of the company. It serves to verify the existence and representation of a business partner before concluding a contract, and an extract from it is required in many administrative proceedings, including grant applications. Changes are now recorded exclusively electronically. However, the register says nothing about a company's financial health or its liabilities, so when vetting a partner it is combined with the register of financial statements, the list of debtors, and the register of public sector partners when trading with the state. An extract from the register can now be downloaded online free of charge, and its electronic form is sufficient for most official acts.
