Decarbonisation of Industry is support aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions in energy-intensive sectors – metallurgy, chemicals, and the production of cement, paper and glass. It funds changes to production technologies, the switch to zero-emission or low-emission energy sources, the use of waste heat, the electrification of processes and, in some cases, carbon dioxide capture. For businesses, the motivation is not only the grant itself but also the rising price of emission allowances and customers' requirements regarding the carbon footprint of supplies. Support is provided mainly to large enterprises, which requires a special state aid regime. Smaller companies are affected by the topic indirectly through the supply chain, when their customers start requiring data on emissions and the energy intensity of production.
