CRM implementation in a company

CRM implementation means moving from tracking deals in people's heads and spreadsheets to a single system that holds the communication history, deal status and next step for every customer. The benefit lies in the overview it gives and in the fact that a salesperson leaving does not mean losing relationships. Implementation, however, typically fails not on the technology but on the people: if the system adds work for salespeople and gives nothing back, they will stop filling it in and the data will lose its value. The proven approach is to start with a minimal set of fields, connect the CRM to email and phone so that records are created automatically, and use it in meetings, which turns it into the single source of truth. It is worth combining the migration of old contacts with cleaning them up, rather than copying everything across including duplicates.
