A 301 redirect is a permanent redirect from one URL to another that clearly signals to search engines and regular users that the content has been permanently moved to a new location, while also transferring most of the value and authority of the original page to the new destination URL. It is typically used during a complete website redesign, a domain change, or a restructuring of existing URLs.
