A video transcript is its text version. It offers three benefits at once, and yet most companies do not have one. The first is the availability of the content to search engines and language models, which process the video itself in a limited way – the text next to it is what can be found and cited. The second is accessibility for people with a hearing impairment and for most viewers on social media, who watch without sound. The third is a source of further content: an article, posts, questions for an FAQ section and material for a newsletter can all be created from a transcript. Automatic transcription can handle most of the work today, but it requires checking – especially for technical terms and names, which get transcribed incorrectly.
