A consortium is a grouping of several organisations from different countries that jointly submit and implement a project under directly managed European Union programmes. Most of these calls require a minimum number of partners from different member states, so it is not possible to apply for support alone. One organisation acts as the coordinator, communicating with the Commission, receiving the funds and distributing them to partners according to the agreed budget. Relationships within the consortium are governed by a consortium agreement, which addresses rights to the results, liability, dispute resolution, and the procedure for a partner's departure. For a Slovak company, the most viable route tends to be joining an already-formed consortium as a partner rather than assembling one. Partners can be found through national contact points and programme partner databases.
