Thin content refers to pages that do not bring the visitor sufficient value – empty categories without products, automatically generated combinations of parameters, short texts taken over from a supplier, or dozens of nearly identical pages for individual towns without any real difference. Their problem is not only that they fail to rank, but that they burden crawling and worsen the overall assessment of the website. They can be found by combining the index coverage report, traffic data and a simple overview of content length. There are three solutions: add real value, merge several pages into one, or exclude them from the index. It is worth deciding based on whether real demand exists for the given topic. Merging several weak pages into one strong page tends to be more effective than gradually padding them out with a few more sentences.
