Packaging and shipping are an operational part of an e-shop that directly affects both costs and satisfaction. On the cost side, the size and weight of the shipment are decisive, because carriers' price lists are tiered and an unnecessarily large box pushes the shipment into a more expensive bracket. On the loss side, adequate protection of the goods is decisive, since damage in transit means the cost of a return as well as of a replacement. From the customer's point of view, unboxing is the first physical contact with the brand, so clean, well-thought-out packaging affects repeat purchases and sharing alike. It is worth tracking the time from order receipt to handover to the carrier, because this is the segment the company fully controls, unlike the transit time itself. The calculation of the shipping price should therefore also include packaging materials and handling time, not just the carrier's rate.
