The mid-term review is a mandatory reassessment of the programme, in which it is evaluated whether the original setup still matches the needs, and how the drawdown of funds and the fulfilment of indicators are progressing. On this basis, the part of the allocation reserved for this purpose is definitively assigned to priorities – strengthening some and reducing others. New circumstances are also taken into account, for example the economic situation or changed European policies. For applicants, this is a period of heightened uncertainty: call schedules shift, planned calls may change in scope and focus, and new ones are published only after the adjustments have been approved. Anyone with a plan ready and waiting for a call should follow programme changes more closely than usual during this time.
