Glossary as a content type

A glossary is a collection of definition pages covering the terminology of a field. As a content type, it has three strengths. The first is coverage of a large number of informational queries that would not fit into ordinary articles. The second is a dense internal network of links between terms, which builds topical authority and helps the visitor move through related topics. The third is the format's suitability for generative search engines, since a definition page is exactly the passage a model is looking for. The difference between a good glossary and a pointless one lies in depth: an entry with two sentences brings nothing, whereas an entry that explains the term, states the conditions, common mistakes and related terms, stands on its own. Treat every entry, therefore, as a fully-fledged page with its own intent.
