A blog and a knowledge base serve different purposes, even though they are often merged into a single section. A blog is chronological and suits news, commentary on events, case studies and time-bound topics. A knowledge base is reference material and contains permanent guides, explanations of terms, answers to frequent questions and technical documentation organised by topic, not by date. This distinction has a practical consequence: a blog article from three years ago looks dated, whereas an updated guide in the knowledge base retains its value. Most company websites need a knowledge base more than a blog, because customers are looking for answers to specific questions. A knowledge base also relieves the burden on customer support and serves as material for AI assistants.
