Online course versus in-person training

The choice between an online course and in-person training affects both cost and outcome. The online format is cheaper per participant, available at any time, and suitable for a basic introduction and for revision. Its weakness is a low completion rate – without commitment and a deadline, a large proportion of people do not finish it. In-person training is more expensive and harder to organise, but it allows work with participants' real assignments, addresses their questions, and creates pressure to finish. When introducing AI in a company, the combination that usually works best is a short online foundation for everyone, followed by in-person or live online sessions by team, where the specific tasks of the given role are practised. What matters is not the amount of content, but whether people go on to use the tool.
