A company AI assistant is an internal interface through which employees work with a model over the company's own documents – guidelines, price lists, contract templates, technical documentation and meeting minutes. It solves two problems at once: it shortens the time spent searching for information while also giving the company control over where sensitive data ends up, instead of people entering it into private accounts. The key is setting permissions correctly – the assistant must respect which documents a given role has access to, otherwise payroll or personal data could be exposed through the chat. Equally important is the currency of the source material, because an answer based on a cancelled guideline is worse than no answer at all. The success of the rollout is judged not by the introduction of the tool, but by the share of employees who actually use it.
