Search volume

Search volume indicates how many times per month people entered a given query. It is the most commonly used yet also the most misunderstood figure in content planning. It is a sample-based estimate that differs between tools, tends to be rounded into bands, and for the Slovak market with low volumes its accuracy is limited. A query with a reported volume of zero may in reality have dozens of searches per month, which is entirely sufficient for a specialised topic with high customer value. Volume should therefore be used as an aid when comparing two topics, not as a condition for whether content is worth creating. A more important criterion tends to be the intent and the value of the customer entering the given query. Seasonal queries need to be assessed over the whole year.
