The Managing Authority (MA) is the central state administration body responsible for managing and implementing a programme co-financed from European Union funds. For the Slovakia Programme 2021–2027, the role of managing authority is performed by the Ministry of Investments, Regional Development and Informatization of the Slovak Republic (MIRRI). The Managing Authority announces calls for proposals, approves applications for a non-repayable financial contribution, concludes agreements with recipients, checks the implementation of projects, and is answerable to the European Commission for the correct drawing of funds. It may delegate part of its tasks to intermediate bodies, which are usually the relevant line ministries or agencies. The MA also issues managing documentation – guides for applicants and recipients, methodological instructions and guidelines, which are binding on participants in the process. Knowing the competencies of the Managing Authority helps applicants communicate correctly and pursue remedies.
