European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD)

The EAFRD is the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, from which the second pillar of the common agricultural policy is financed. It supports investments in agricultural holdings and the processing of production, young farmers starting out, agri-environmental measures, forestry, but also the development of rural municipalities, including basic infrastructure, services and the restoration of public spaces. A significant part of it is the LEADER approach, implemented through local action groups, which distribute funds directly within the territory. Administration in Slovakia is provided by the Agricultural Paying Agency, and the measures are incorporated into the strategic plan. For municipalities outside urban areas, it is often the only available source for smaller investment projects. Calls are published on the agency's website, and their schedule differs from that of the Slovakia Programme, so they need to be monitored separately. A condition is usually registration in the land register or the farm register.
