How to Implement AI in a Company

Implementing AI in a company is not a matter of purchasing a tool, but of changing the way work is done, so it pays to proceed in order. Start by mapping processes and looking for places where people repeatedly do the same thing with text, data or communication – that is usually where the benefit comes fastest. Choose one process, not five, and measure its current state in numbers so you have something to compare against. Next comes selecting the tool according to the process, not the other way round, and a short pilot with a success criterion and a decision date set in advance. In parallel, address the rules: what may be entered into the tools, who checks the output, and where AI is prohibited. Only expand after evaluating the pilot. The worst possible start is a blanket rollout of a tool to everyone without a defined purpose and without measurement.
