Assistants in workplace tools are features built into office suites, communication platforms, and enterprise systems that answer questions directly within the environment where people work. For B2B companies this is a substantial shift: part of decision-making moves outside the browser and outside classic search, into an environment where internal company documents mix with information from the web. In practice this means two things. The first is that content must be accessible and machine-processable even outside a nicely designed website, that is, in the form of documents, feeds, and unambiguous data. The second is that the materials you send to clients – proposals, specifications, case studies – become a source the assistant on the customer's side draws on, so their clarity and accuracy have a direct effect on the decision.
