A prompt library is a shared collection of proven prompts for the AI tools that are used in the company – for example, for preparing a quote, summarising a meeting, replying to a complaint, or describing a product. Without it, every employee develops their own approach, outputs are inconsistent, and knowledge leaves with people. A useful library states, for each prompt, its purpose, a sample input and output, a note on what needs to be checked, and who maintains it. Equally important is upkeep: prompts change over time along with the models, so they need an owner and a date of last revision. The library also proves useful as material for training new colleagues, because it shows concrete use instead of general advice.
